What Flinq is
Flinq (available as an Android/iOS app and a web app) lets you share files, photos, and clipboard text between your devices. Transfers travel over an encrypted, peer-to-peer WebRTC connection established after you pair two devices with a six-character code or QR code.
What we don't collect
- No accounts. There is no sign-up, login, email, or password.
- No content storage. Files and text go device-to-device and are never uploaded to, stored on, or readable by our servers. The in-app transfer list is held in your device's memory only and clears when you disconnect.
- No analytics or tracking. Flinq contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no trackers.
What stays on your device
Flinq stores a few settings locally on your device only: your chosen device name, a randomly generated device identifier, your theme preference, and the list of devices you've marked as trusted. Deleting the app deletes them.
What technically passes through servers
Like all peer-to-peer apps, Flinq uses infrastructure to connect your devices — never to store your content:
- Signaling. A connection broker (PeerJS) exchanges the technical handshake that lets your devices find each other. It sees connection metadata (such as pairing identifiers and IP addresses), not your files or text.
- Relay fallback. If a direct connection isn't possible, encrypted traffic may be relayed through a TURN server (Cloudflare). Relayed data remains end-to-end encrypted (WebRTC DTLS) — the relay forwards packets it cannot read and stores nothing.
Feedback (optional)
If you use the in-app "Send feedback" form, your message — and your email address, only if you choose to include it — is delivered to us via Formspree, a third-party form service, and used solely to read and respond to your feedback. This is the only personal data Flinq can receive, and it is entirely optional and user-initiated. To request deletion, contact us at the address below.
Device permissions
- Camera — used only to scan pairing QR codes and to take photos you explicitly choose to send. No images are captured without your action.
- Photos / files — accessed only through the system picker when you select something to send.
Children
Flinq is not directed at children under 13 and, as described above, does not collect personal information from any user.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
